Community Activities

Beginning with the campaign to fund the first library in Saratoga, the Saratoga Foothill Club has a long history of community involvement. Today’s members continue to honor the objectives of the founders with support for three community activities.

Holiday Baskets

For over 60 years, Foothill Club members have organized and collected food items for low income families and seniors at Christmas time.  While organized by the Foothill Club, this is a collective effort that also involves the Saratoga Union School District staff and families who donate canned food items, and local Boy Scouts and firefighters who deliver the boxes. The staff at Fellowship Plaza hosts the assembly of the food boxes and many local grocers contribute to the effort.

The baskets were amazing and very thoughtful. We are thankful that our participants have your generous donation and look forward to it at holiday time.

The Pantry Project

West Valley Community Services operates a food pantry to serve low income families in Saratoga, Cupertino, Los Gatos, Monte Sereno, West San Jose and the surrounding mountain areas. Demands on the pantry increase during the summer when children are out of school and not receiving school breakfasts and lunches. In the spring, the Foothill Club collects healthy foods, household items, and cash donations to augment the pantry and provide food for the summer months.
